Buford sweeps Morgan County

Buford secured a 9th back to back tour to state softball quarterfinals earlier on Wednesday by winning a couple of mercy ruled matches over Morgan County in the 2nd round of Class AAA state playoff matches.

In Columbus, Buford will be joined by 7 other units from the classification. There they would fight it out for a record 7th straight state championship. Lady Wolves would be the favorites to win the championship again.

Tony Wolfe, the Buford coach, told Unibet that this does feel good. He feels great for their players, mainly their seniors to get to go back once again. To go 4 consecutive years is a stunning thing for them. As far as their program is concerned, they are proud and concerned.

He added that they feel as if they have got a team which has got a scope. They like what they brought to the table. They feel like they have a little of everything, defensively, offensively and they feel like they pitch it quite well. Therefore, they would like their scopes and they were going to be confident.

Morgan Walters hit a couple of 3 run home runs to motivate Buford’s offense in both victories on Wednesday. Morgan’s 1st home run came in 1st inning of Game One, offering Buford a 3 - 0 lead. After that with the match tied at 1 - 1 in Game Two, Morgan belted a 3rd inning 3 run homer to left the field to put Buford ahead 5 - 1.
